Orthopaedic Surgery

Dragon Vets have an operating theatre dedicated to clean, sterile procedures and have all the equipment necessary for a variety of orthopaedic procedures.

We often perform the following orthopaedic procedures:

  • Fracture repair using internal fixation: plates, pins, screws and wire
  • Fracture repair using external fixation
  • Fracture repair using external limb casts and splints
  • Luxating patella surgery with or without tibial crest transposition
  • Management of simple pelvic fractures
  • Femoral head and neck excision arthroplasty
  • TTA (tibial tuberosity advancement surgery) or lateral suture to treat cranial cruciate ligament disease

 

Dragon Vets also benefit from having the fastest type of digital x-ray system (DR) that enables rapid diagnosis of bone disorders and subsequent image manipulation to obtain measurements and other useful information. Dragon Vets have specially designed anaesthetic protocols for orthopaedic procedures including the use of strong opiates like morphine or fentanyl and nitrous oxide.
